ROYAL CANADIAN REGIMENT 1930's to circa 1970's TWO BRASS SHOULDER TITLES DESCRIPTION Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Regiment, pair of brass shoulder titles of the type worn between the 1930's and 1970 when versions were made in modern materials . This pair are likely a post WW2 manufacture. Each badge measures approx 3.6 cms wide by 1.5 cms high at the farthest points and with 2 brass lugs for attachment. The Royal Canadian Regiment traces it's history to the Infantry School Corps raised in 1883. In 1892, this became the Canadian Regiment of Infantry and took part in quelling the North-West Rebellion, receiving the Battle Honours, "Saskatchewan" and "North West Canada1885". In 1893, the Regiment became the Royal Canadian Regiment of Infantry and members of the Regiment took part in the Boer War, receiving the Battle Honours, "Paardeberg" and "South Africa 1899-1900" In 1901, they were renamed, the Royal Canadian Regiment. They took part in WW1 and received 23 Battle Honours. In WW2, they were placed on active service on September 01st, 1939, and embarked for the U.K. in December that year. They landed in Sicily on July 10th, 1943, with the first Canadian Infantry Division and moved to the North-West Europe theatre in early 1945. They received 27 Battle Honours in WW2. The Regiment took part in the Korean War and received the Battle Honour,"Korea 1951-53". Since Korea, the Regiment has taken part in active service operations and peace keeping duties including Cyprus, Egypt, Croatia, Bosnia and most recently the war in Afghanistan.
